Yes, it is permissible for a man to combine his money with his wife’s or gold and pay Zakat jointly.

The Zakat due on wealth, whether money, gold, or silver, remains the same regardless of whether it is kept separate or combined. What matters is ensuring that the total wealth reaches the Zakat nisab (the minimum threshold for Zakat) and that the Zakat is paid at the correct rate, which is 2.5% (one-quarter of one-tenth).

Shaykh Abd al-Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about a man who depends on his monthly salary and saves part of it. He responded that the man should track his savings and pay Zakat on them when one full year has passed.

Zakat is still valid if It is paid in full in the first month. It will be regarded as an advance payment for savings that have not yet been completed for a year.

Shaykh Ibn Baaz also stated, "There is no reason why a person should not pay Zakat in advance if he sees some benefit in doing so."

Therefore, combining the money and paying Zakat jointly is permissible, as long as the total wealth reaches the nisab. Zakat should then be calculated and paid at the correct rate.

While combining wealth for Zakat is permissible and can simplify the process, spouses should calculate Zakat and pay it individually if they both have sufficient wealth. This ensures each fulfills their obligation personally and independently.

However, it should not be delayed after the year has passed. A delay is only permissible if there is a valid Shar’i excuse, such as the wealth being unavailable or there being no poor people to receive it.

And Allah knows best!
