Yes, Zakat applies to silver rings worn by men, provided that certain conditions are met.
Zakat is a form of almsgiving in Islam, which requires Muslims who possess wealth above a certain threshold (Nisab) to give 2.5% of their wealth annually to those in need.
When it comes to silver rings, the key factor in determining whether Zakat is due is the value of the ring. The value should be assessed on the Zakat anniversary. This is the date when the individual’s wealth has reached the Zakat nisab threshold for one full lunar year.
It is not just the silver content but the current market value of the ring that matters. If the ring holds a value equivalent to or above the Nisab, it becomes subject to Zakat. The amount of Zakat due on the silver ring is calculated as 2.5% of its value at the time of the Zakat anniversary.
For instance, if a man has a silver ring whose value is $500 at the time of calculation, the Zakat payable on the ring would be $12.50 (2.5% of $500).
Zakat is generally not required on jewelry or ornaments that are worn regularly and considered part of one's personal use. It becomes due if their value exceeds a specific amount of wealth. However, if the silver ring is purely an item of value or investment, Zakat must be paid.
And Allah knows best!
